Frequently Asked Questions

1)      If I have Medicare, why do I need Medicaid? Medicare does not cover many of the services covered by Medicaid.  These include long term homecare, extended nursing homes stays, medical equipment and supplies.  Medicaid will also become a secondary insurance for all co-pays and deductibles.

2)      How can I be eligible for Medicaid if I own my own home? You may retain ownership of the home you live in and still be eligible for Medicaid.

3)      Why do I need your company’s services? Can’t I fill out a Medicaid Application and submit it myself? Because Medicaid rules are so complex, people often overlook applicable details.  An improperly submitted Medicaid application can result in delay or denial of application approval.  Due to our experience in senior care, applications are expedited and turnaround time is substantially shortened.  Since our reputation for perfection is known in the industry, providers will often provide services as soon as we submit your application. As we are unaffiliated with any homecare or servicing agency, we will guide you in obtaining maximum services.

4)      I have been told that there is a five year look back period.  If I apply now, does that mean I will not get Medicaid for five years? Look back is for Nursing Home care only.  There is no look back for homecare.  Often, you can even get homecare services as soon as your application is submitted

5)      I understand that there is only a small amount of money I can earn a month, what happens if I earn more than the allowable monthly income?  Will Medicaid take away my Social Security check?  When someone’s income, including Social Security, is above Medicaid guidelines, it is considered surplus income.  We will create a pooled income trust fund for you so that you can use this income to pay your bills and cover your expenses.  This will enable you to receive Medicaid services without losing your income.

6)      What is the difference between Nursing Home and Community Medicaid? Community Medicaid covers services you need in your own home, while Nursing Home Medicaid covers all services you need in a skilled nursing facility.

7)      Will I lose control over financial decisions on my own behalf?  Our skilled professionals will answer any questions you have about securing your finances.
